Residents Appreciate Water Channels Construction in Pondok Bambu

The East Jakarta City Government continues its efforts to reduce flooding. One example is the construction of a 621-meter-long drainage channel on Jalan Hanafi, Alley of Masjid Jami Nurul Iman, RT 07/02, Pondok Bambu Urban Village, Duren Sawit District, which has received praise from local residents.

Carried out by a third party

The administrator of RW 02, Pondok Bambu Urban Village, Suko Wibowo expressed his appreciation to the ranks of the East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency for realizing the residents' proposal.

Water Channel in Cakung Timur Revitalized

According to him, the area is prone to flooding due to the confluence of water flows from several directions. Over the past four years, flooding of approximately 30 centimeters has frequently occurred during heavy rainfall.

"Hopefully, after the new channel is completed, the flooding can be resolved," he hoped, Thursday (7/16).

Head of the Development Section of the East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency, Tengku Saugi Zikri, stated the previous channel was no longer able to accommodate the water flow during heavy rain. The channel, built independently by residents, was only about 25 to 30 centimeters wide.

"The work is being carried out by a third party through an e-Catalog auction process. We hope that all work can be completed on schedule," he stated.

Meanwhile, the third party contractor, Satrio Wibowo, added that the new channel is built using 40x40 centimeter U-ditch concrete with a total length of 621 meters, which is worked on both sides of the channel.

"The project began earlier this week and is targeted for completion within 90 days," he admitted.
